Stint — Privacy Policy

Stint keeps everything on your Mac. It has no account, no server and no sync, and it collects nothing about you. Your clients, your rates, your tracked time and your invoices are never sent to the developer or to anyone else.

It contains no networking code at all, so there is nothing it could send even by mistake.

What Stint stores

Everything you enter, and nothing you don't:

  • Clients — their name, contact details and the rate you agreed
  • Projects and tasks — names, notes, priorities, due dates and statuses
  • Tracked time — when each stint started and stopped, and what it was worth
  • Invoices — the addresses, tax rate, bank details and lines snapshotted onto each one when it was raised
  • Your profile — the name, email address and photo you choose to put in Settings
  • Your preferences — which view you last used, how a list is sorted, the window's size

Where it is stored

In a single database file inside Stint's own sandboxed container on this Mac. The About window will show you exactly where and reveal it in the Finder. Your preferences sit alongside it in the app's own settings.

That file is not encrypted on its own. Nothing in Stint sends it anywhere, but anyone with access to your Mac account, or to an unencrypted backup of it, can read your rates and your earnings — so keep FileVault switched on.

What Stint does not do

  • No analytics, telemetry or crash reporting
  • No advertising and no advertising identifiers
  • No third-party SDKs or trackers
  • No accounts, sign-in or email collection
  • No sync — your data is on this Mac and nowhere else
  • No purchases of any kind — the app is free and takes no payment

Because nothing is collected, there is nothing for the developer to see, share, sell or lose.

Exports and emailing an invoice

A CSV or PDF export is written only where you tell the save panel to put it. Emailing an invoice opens your own email app with the client addressed and the PDF attached, for you to check and send yourself. Stint never sends anything on its own and is not told what you do with the file afterwards.

Backups

Your data is included in a Time Machine or whole-disk backup of this Mac, because it is an ordinary file in your home folder. It is not in iCloud and does not sync to any other device — which also means there is no copy anywhere else to restore from if you lose the Mac.

Your control over the data

  • Edit or delete any tracked stint from the Tracked Time page
  • Archive a client, project or task to put it away while keeping its history
  • Delete one to destroy the tracked time beneath it — Stint tells you what will go and asks first
  • Delete the app, then delete the Stint folder the About window reveals, to remove everything

There is no request to make and no one to ask: the data is on your Mac and under your control.

Children

Stint is a tool for billing your own work. It is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Stint changes what it stores or where — for example by adding iCloud sync so your own Macs share a database — this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
